Description
A set of photorealistic basalt columns and rocks for environment dressing of any type, ready for VFX and games.
The materials are customizable to fit your scenes. Multiple parameters are open to play around with e.g. Categories: Color, Roughness, Specular, Normals, Covering (The lichen layer, sand layer or custom textures). Have a look at the material screenshots for more detailed examples. The water material is included as well, it’s is only meant for demo purposes though. It features world based coordinates so you can use it on every geometry independent of scale and size. The water makes use of mesh distance fields to generate dynamic contact ripples and has subtle movement. (Make sure mesh distance fields are activated in project settings and enable ripple parameter on water material instance to activate the ripples)
All textures are high resolution 4k and the basalt material comes with a detail texture for very close views. There are two covering texture sets included (Lichen and Sand) and you can add in your own textures to the basalt material instances (Basecolor, Normal, ARM)
This 21 part kit allows you to build your own realistic basalt rock structures. You can create whole basalt sceneries with the prefabricated props in no time.
Dressing with the Basalt assets is quite easy. Everything combines well and can quickly be bashed in all kinds of rock formations and basalt walls. Feel free to watch the example building movie.

Important/Additional Notes: The UE single water shader is heavy, for performance you might want to build your own one. To get the water ripples in this one make sure mesh distance fields are activated in project settings and enable the ripple parameter on water material instance to activate the ripples. If you have no need for the water ripples feature or don’t want the distance fields generated you don’t have to change anything.
